Original Iron Civil War Sibley Stove. Designed in 1856 to warm the popular circular Sibley Tent, these unusual, portable and durable iron stoves became a staple of Union Army camplife and were used for warmth and cooking both inside and out of a variety of shelters. The stove measures 29″ tall, with an 18″ diameter base tapering to a 4 opening at the top. A hinged iron door measuring about 8″ x 8″ is set near the top and there is a small rounded opening at the base to assist ventilation. The stove shows wear but is sound and undented with medium pitting overall. A very displayable object that would be an excellent centerpiece of any camplife display. They were used during the civil war, Indian wars and World War 1. The item “Original US Cavalry Sibley Tent Stove, Civil War, Indian wars” is in sale since Friday, May 18, 2018.
