This model is one of several models that we will now be offering, based around the seemingly unbeatable sound of the Western Electric/Altec Lansing 755 speaker paper cone.. They will be for Hi-Fi, musical instruments, and even PA use models.. If you need clean channel/ amplified acoustic guitar in it’s purist form, this is the one to play/record with.. If you LOVE detailed over drive, you can close your eyes, and in your head you can almost envision the shape of the complex incoming wave forms. These things have “CRUNCH”… More than the Captain ever offered’…. The 755 cone, has been a leader for DECADES as far as providing a transparent, detailed, fairly wide range sound… Some models with this cone command a hefty 3 grand! It uses a special blend of special pulps, binding agents, kapok, and felts(seems strange right), to get an inherent dampening ability to suppress “ringing” , pulse hangover, and phantom notes from the cone material ringing.. A tonality that is compatible to the G5 hemp formulations. This tonality starts and’stops fast. Very fast impulse response, transient capabilities, detail, presence,’believability’, and 3D presentation.. Even the core of the motor structure has been machined out, to allow a packing of fiber glass to absorb any sound reflected behind the cone/cap area! . The devil is in the details, and this one is possessed. If you want to hear the instrument and/or the amp, THIS is the speaker to go with.. This is the new “guitar version” with the molded in dust cap removed, and a Celestion acoustically transparent/open weave dust cap used to let out just the right amount of midrange and top end directly out of the coil/core area.. Other models will include the 1 piece integrated cone and cap.. Others will have the cloth surround. I can also offer a hi fi version with a butylene rubber surround for the ultimate hi-fi version of this speaker.. I replaced the factory speakers in my father’s Ampex Tape/Radio system in’69/’70 to give him better fidelity when he listened to NPR every morning. They were in gentle usage for 30 years, when he gave the speakers to me when they remodeled. They have been in storage in my music room since. Our home is non-smoking. I fired them up to be sure all was well, and (dang) do they sound good! The last picture is showing how they were housed all these years. A pair of Altec-Lansing 755E full range 8 ohm drivers in excellent condition with perfect cones. These 8 speakers were manufactured in the 18th week of 1973 and both have the same manufacturing number. One driver measures 6.45 ohms and the other 6.47 ohms, a very close match. One speaker has a terminal pad that is bent slightly at an angle as seen in the next to last photo. This of course does not affect its function. Any questions, please ask.
