This classic O’Keefe and Merritt gas stove from the early 1950’s has been a joy and a wonder in my kitchen since we bought our home 25 years ago. Everyone who sees it marvels at its excellent condition and unique design, which features the cutting board front with its pullout burners. The stove rests on its own metal cabinet, which is ready to receive whatever cabinet doors will match your kitchen. I’ve enjoyed having two upper ovens, both of which worked perfectly until about two months ago when the larger oven failed to light. The smaller warming oven, with its Grillevator broiler feature, still works fine. Three of the burners work, though the one on the far right, the so-called “Burner with a Brain” has been brain dead since before our time, unfortunately. Actually, I might add that we are only the third owner of this home, which was built in 1953, the year I assume the stove was installed. The height of the upper section is 36″, the lower section is 28.5″, making the whole unit 64.5. The width is 40″ and the depth when the drawer is closed is 26″. With the burners pulled out the depth is 39. Included is the original 46-page Owner’s Guide. It has some cover wear but other than that is in excellent condition. There are a few other minor flaws you should know about. The plastic trim on the top of the oven door is cracked (see photo), the glass is missing from the front of the clock, which has never worked, and there is some surface marring on the chrome trim. The purchaser will be responsible for picking the stove up from my home, where it is waiting patiently for its new owner under the covered patio. Maybe that person is you!
