I have for sale an 1885 award medal from the Ohio State Board of Agriculture. In June 1845 Ohio farmers organized the Ohio Board of Agriculture and a few years later the Ohio General Assembly formally recognized the group as the Ohio State Board of Agriculture. Their initial goal was to establish county fairs in Ohio. These fairs enabled farmers to show case their products and skills through the County fairs and eventually the Ohio State Fair. The first O. S. B. A State fair was to be held in 1849 but had to be canceled due to a cholera outbreak. The first fair was then held in Cincinnati in 1850. This medal is silver, it is two inches in diameter and in a high grade uncirculated condition with mirror fields, photos do not due the medal justice. Lovett was the medalist. The obverse shows three women with several items. The reverse at the top rim reads THE OHIO STATE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE. In the top center it shows wheat and corn stalks with a ribbon and a version of the State seal & on the ribbon it reads AWARDED TO. Engraved, it reads, C. EMRICH – BEST PARLOR STOVE – RETAIL PRICE CONSIDERED – STATE FAIR – 1885.
Cast Iron door for Coal or Wood type stove. Inside door the number 104-131 is molded into the casting. I do not know if this indicates a partial model number. The front of the door has cast: Coal Saver 102. See photos for measurements and ask any questions. I will try to assist.
