Birmingham Stove & Range (BSR) cast iron bean pot with lid and fireplace crane / parts. 8″ across the top and maybe 5-1/2″ tall. Set was never actually used, but had some storage / age related wear, so cleaned / seasoned. Matching two piece adjustable fireplace crane with it… Not sure if it came with some sort of rod or bolt for the crane, but wouldn’t be difficult to source. There are no cracks, breaks, etc. The bail got a little bent / isn’t perfect. It has not been used since the restoration process. Pictures were taken outside in natural light and are a big part of the description. Cleaned / seasoned / ready to cook. I don’t think the fireplace parts come up too often. I’ve restored hundreds of pieces of cast iron cookware. All go through lye to remove any crud, organic material, seasoning, etc. Then I run them through the electrolysis process to remove any corrosion, rust, impurities, etc. They are scrubbed by hand using dish liquid, stainless steel scouring pads, stainless steel brushes, and magic erasers under cold water to bring them back to the bare metal finish. Finally, all pieces are run through three rounds of seasoning using vegetable shortening. Cast iron cookware will last hundreds of years and generations if properly taken care of. These are beautiful, heirloom quality pieces made right here in the USA. Will be bubble wrapped and surrounded by packing material to ensure that they don’t shift in transit. They are not making cookware like this anymore, and I would consider it tragic if anything were to happen to these in transit. They will be packed very well. I gauge movement by a business card. Usually less than a card of movement I consider it to be flat. However you may see that I state that it has a tap movement. That just shows that if you push down at that point it will tap the surface. Any movement more than that I will list it as how many cards it takes to level it out. I clean the cast by electrolysis and season it with a beeswax and vegetable oil mixture. Overtime I have tried several different ways of seasoning. I have recently been trying a heavier coating to get a more stick free finish. However some of the older pieces have less of a coating. All of them will get better with use and more seasoning when you cook with them. Most of the pieces will come to you in a dark Cast Iron color, some however will be a brownish color. But all will darken more with use. They will darken up over time and use to become the black color everyone associates with Cast iron Skillets. Some of the Cast Iron pieces are coming out of my collection so they will not be as cured as the others since I use a lot of them for display purposes.
