On the top of the lid in raised lettering it reads ” WESTERN FOUNDRY – LEAVENWORTH KANSAS – PATENTED MAY 8TH 1866 ” and also the number ” 8 ” on the top of the spout. This rare antique kettle has been stored in my barn for many years, is dusty and could use some cleaning and rubbed down with oil, but displays just fine as is. This kettle has a lip near the bottom and was was made to set onto a heat access hole on the top of a wood or coal cast iron kitchen stove, and looks like it would fit into approx. 7-3/4″ to 8″ diameter.
