Vintage Sportsman model charcoal grill made by Atlanta Stove Works, Atlanta, Georgia. It measures 19″ long, 10″ wide and 8 1/2″ high to the grill cooking surface which measures 9″ by 17 1/2. I has the company and model name on the outside of the drop-down draft door and patent number on the inside of the door. The cooking surface is removable and so is the interior piece where the coals are placed. There are three feet on this piece and each has a screw and wing nut- I assume the company might have made a stand for this grill and the screws would have attached the grill and stand. What a compact and useful item to take camping, tailgating, to the park or just in the back yard. It seems a much more practical way to cook up a couple of steaks or burgers than a larger, flimsy grill that needs to be replaced every other year. This grill does have a good bit of surface rust but no cracks or weak spots in the iron. If you’re a fan of these little Sportsmen, you will probably want to do a thorough restoration on it. If you’re strictly a fan of a good steak, you just need to clean the grill surface.
