Made in the USA. Shadrach Portable Rocket Stove. My journey of building rocket stoves began two years ago. I started with designing and building a large stove for my own use in emergency situations, like a power outage at supper time. I had many suggestions for a stove that was portable. So in the end I ended up with this stove I named Shadrach. The stove features heavy all steel construction with 2400 degree insulation around the base. It breaks down into four pieces that all fit inside a 50cal ammo can. The stove is designed to burn any biomass and to direct the heat generated to a pan that sits on the top. A specially designed funnel shape on top allows even heating, the use of different sizes of pots and pans, and if a wire/mesh was used you could directly cook on it. After many weeks of testing and design I have come up with a stove that burns very little wood and achieves 1000 degrees in the burn chamber. In testing I had no problems bringing an 8 inch cast iron pan filled half full of oil to 400 degrees. The insulated base raises the temperature in the burn chamber to re-burn the gasses, direct more heat to cooking surface, and eliminate any smoke. The stove only produces any visable smoke when first lite or if a new piece of fuel is added. Perfect for any outdoorsman, camper, fisherman, hunter, prepper, or even those in an Urban area needing a portable stove using fuel found just about anywhere. The Shadrach rocket stove should last a life time with it’s heavy construction of 3/16 wall burn chamber. Cool down for storage takes around 20 minutes. This stove is designed for outdoor use only and should be set up on a solid surface. I would say that a 10 inch pan is the largest size you would want to use safely. Introducing a portable rocket stove that I have named Shadrach. It was designed, tested, and fabricated in my one man shop. The stove comes in 5 parts. The base or burn chamber is insulated with 2400 degree ceramic insulation and long lasting 3/16 steel tube. The two legs fit into the base with a tab and slot design making for a very stable platform. The chimney is made of the same 3/16 tube with a funnel for improved heat transfer to the pot or pan. And last is an used 50cal ammo can. Everything fits neatly into the ammo can for protection and portability. To get the most out of the stove use small, 1/2 diameter or smaller, wood, twigs, branches, or grass. In testing the burn chamber can get up to 1000 degrees. With an 8 cast iron pan I was able to heat oil to 400 degrees, much higher and the oil will start to smoke. Cool down takes about 20 minutes. For out door use only. Rocket Heaters by Liberator LLC are by far the most economical wood stove to have ever been put on the market to date. Its design is a direct descendant to rocket mass heating technology, and it shows! It uses one fourth the wood a typical wood stove uses and does so by burning tree limbs and large sticks, while being one of the cleanest burning wood stoves in existence. This high efficiency is accomplished by maximizing draft and the oxygen supply, effectively utilizing similar principles that large scale metallurgical blast forges use to create steel and other industrial product. Most conventional wood stoves use either a catalytic converter or limit the air supply as to re-ignite the gases later. These conventional systems are hard to maintain, overly complex, less efficient, and very expensive. But these conventional approaches are completely circumvented by the Liberator Rocket Heater, which also uses a second principle of efficiency all other designs blatantly ignore, which is maximizing the thermodynamics of heat transfer. After all, a good clean burn is completely irrelevant if all the heat goes straight up the chimney and into the sky. Convection, conduction, and radiation (infrared) are the three ways heat transfers into a room. The heat is most efficiently’pumped’ out (via convection, conduction, and radiation) by maximizing the volume of the stove which slows the gases soon to be exhausted, and maximizing the surface area of the stove the exhaust gases contact. In addition, the geometric concept of having an internal chimney maximizes the draft, thus creating a’forge’ effect as mentioned earlier, and only permits gases that are substantially cooler than the top to fall to the bottom of the wood stove and vent into the chimney, which is attached to the bottom of the stove. All this’thinking out of the box wood stove’ engineering means that this Rocket Heater will often reach temperatures as high as 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celsius) in less than ten minutes from start. It will reach its optimal’idle’ temperature of 650 degrees Fahrenheit in about half an hour. If you put seasoned hardwood in the heater, it can reach temperatures as high as 750 degrees Fahrenheit on the top plate. All these high temperatures are maintained throughout the heater, yet the stove pipe remains well under 300 degrees (measured 6 inches back) on average. The Liberator Rocket Heater it does this with nothing more than sticks, branches, and split staves less than 2 inches in diameter. You can use this heater for a full hour without refueling if you use hardwood and around 45 minutes with branches and softwood. One fourth of an 18 inch long log split into staves can provide this extreme amount of heat for well over a couple hours.
