Set of Birmingham Stove & Range (BSR) cast iron skillets. Sizes #3 (6-5/8″), #5 (8-1/8″), #6 (9-3/8″), #7 (10-1/4″), #8 (10-5/8″), #10 (12-7/16″), #12 (13-7/16). There are no cracks, breaks, etc. 2-3 w/ light taps / subtle movement. Nothing outstanding to mention, but. There may be a casting flaw, etching, signs of prior neglect, scratches. Marks, other staining / color variation, dark spots from oil pooling during seasoning, etc. They have not been used since the restoration process. Pictures were taken outside in natural light and are a big part of the description. From the Century series, cleaned/seasoned/ready to cook. I’ve restored hundreds of pieces of cast iron cookware. All go through lye to remove any crud, organic material, seasoning, etc. Then I run them through the electrolysis process to remove any corrosion, rust, impurities, etc. They are scrubbed by hand using dish liquid, stainless steel scouring pads, stainless steel brushes, and magic erasers under cold water to bring them back to the bare metal finish. Finally, all pieces are run through three rounds of seasoning using vegetable shortening. Cast iron cookware will last hundreds of years and generations if properly taken care of. These are beautiful, heirloom quality pieces made right here in the USA. Will be bubble wrapped and surrounded by packing material to ensure that they don’t shift in transit. They are not making cookware like this anymore, and I would consider it tragic if anything were to happen to these in transit. They will be packed very well. Just contact me before to make sure we can make arrangements that work for both of us, just message me to edit the listing. If you have any questions, need additional pictures, or anything else please message me. Thank you for viewing this listing. Up for sale is a RARE vintage 1980s Birmingham Stove & Range (BSR) Cornbread Stick Pan with center handle otherwise known as the Handy Dan, model 74 H. Because BS&R ceased operations in the late 1980s not too many of these pans were produced, thus contributing to their rarity. This pan was acquired in used but good condition and was totally restored to like new condition as outlined below. Cornbread pans in general are more difficult to restore due to all the “nooks & crannies” on these skillets, so people generally don’t want to deal with them. Please see details below & photos for complete description. Color: Pan is a dark chocolate brown/light black from the initial seasonings (4) done after stripping pan down to a gun metal gray. At this stage, it should not look black until it has been used over a period of time. Any pan that looks shiny black in the listing has not gone through this process. In daylight, the skillet will appear dark brown but may appear black in your kitchen due to different lighting environments. Excellent for both gas and electric ovens. Could be used in a convection oven, but please consult your owners guide as to proper use as to baking times, etc. Handle to other side: 10 7/8. Height (including handle): 2. Pre-Packaged Weight: 5 pounds, 9.3 ounces. This pan has been totally stripped to raw metal using a combination of a lye bath soak and a vinegar/water rinse to safely strip the pan down to a gun metal gray. These processes follow industry guidelines for a safe and effective restoration. My specific processes will usually remove all old crud, built up seasoning, rust, and anything else lurking on the skillet. On occasion, there will be old seasoning that can’t be removed without damaging the skillet – however this won’t impede the normal use of this skillet. The pan was then washed down with water, a scouring pad, and blue Dawn mild dish detergent & then dried before entering the seasoning process. This is the most important step in the restoration process and many times takes much longer than seasoning. This is also why my pans look like a deep chocolate brown when finished. My pans are safe, non-stick, and look great from this process! Once pan was thoroughly dried, it was seasoned 4 times with a blend of organic high smoke point oils with beeswax as an emulsifier following industry guidelines. Before seasoning each time and once the pan was sufficiently warmed up, the oil was wiped on and then off again, thus leaving the thin surface of oil which is all that is required when properly seasoning a skillet. I have a process which gradually heats the skillet with the applied seasoning so that it goes on evenly and stays that way. The final step is the baking on of the seasoning beyond the smoke point for an hour. It produces a pan that isn’t gummy or wet, but is a nice dry matte finish. This pan is all ready to use and will continue to season the longer it is used. I have seasoned a number of pans this way using Crisco/Easy Beezy Seasoning Stick after doing the flax seed oil method and find that they work better with the heated skillets for even consistent application, and stays intact without flaking off after correctly using & cleaning the pans after each use. Special attention is given to the handle with extra bubble wrap and situated so that it won’t poke through the box which can happen if not packed properly. Please verify before completing the checkout process – thank you. The item “Vtg BSR Birmingham Stove & Range HANDY DAN Cast Iron Corn Stick Pan RESTORED” is in sale since Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Vintage 1930 Glenwood Gas Stove, restored and modernized, gray and white. Condition is “Used, vintage”. The stove has been palletized and fully crated. Removed from service in working condition. The stove was recently converted from LP to natural gas, but could be easily converted back by purchasing new gas nozzles, which look pretty standard. This stove was professionally refurbished and brought to more modern safety standards in `2000 by Good Time Stove in MA. The RobertShaw oven regulator was getting sticky, but the mechanic at the stove restoration co said they are repairable and just need cleaning usually. I’ve loved cooking on this stove, and my new high-end stove will never match the quality of the cast iron burners and additional simmer burner that this stove has, but alas it was time for a modern oven. For anyone with another oven option, this is a beauty, Dimensions are 46″ wide x 25″ deep. It can be picked by by a shipper with a lift gate. I will leave it loose , so its easier to handle and move around. Please contact me for a quote. They cover the most of the midwest going east. A hard to find antique in fully restored condition and the part numbers actually match. This isn’t a grill set cobbled together with a draft door from this hibachi, a top grill from that and a nameplate from Lodge. This was bought together, used together and kept together until I found it neglected together in an estate sale. Then restored it together earlier this year. It has not been used since restoration was completed. The bottom plate has an ancient crack, but since the coals are held off the bottom by the coal grate, there is no loss in safety or performance. When fully assembled, the crack is pretty hard to see. The interior has some pitting but the exterior is pretty clean with consistent color everywhere. There is no warping, fire damage or chips. Both the coal and cooking grills are intact, unwarped and trouble free. Both doors are also intact and trouble free. When fully assembled this looks great. Absolutely no power tools or excessive heat were used in the restoration of this cast iron grill set. It was thoroughly cleaned using a lye bath and electrolysis, one piece at a time. Each was scrubbed using elbow grease and ordinary soap, water and Walmart plastic scrubbies. Each piece was seasoned with vegetable oil 3x at 500 F. This thing will be packed like a sacred relic.
