The Defender is a beautiful air tight plate steel wood burning stove with nickel-pewter trim that accents a charcoal black finish. A heavy cast iron door with air washed ceramic glass allows a magnificent view of the burning fire that will enhance any hearth setting. Heres how it works: the primary air inlet at the front of the stove ignites the wood upon start up. Once burning, the secondary air inlet at the rear of the firebox feeds air to the top of the stove through three (3) ignition tubes directly above the wood. The result is that you have ignition, or fire, at the bottom and at the top of the wood stove which, in effect, consumes the wood. This is a very efficient method of getting the most energy possible out of the wood that you are burning. BLOWER IS NOT INCLUDED. 32 (actually GRIS 32 WOLD). Cast iron two burner, tabletop gas stove / hot plate. Made in the USA. One of the porcelain handles has a chip, if you turn it down you dont see it. Both valves turn, one being stiffer than the other. One of the legs needs to be tightened. Minor spots of surface rust. No Signs of breaks or repairs. The base is marked 1171 underneath , the two burners 1160, the four legs 1701. The burner top measures 19-1/2″ wide x 9-1/2″ deep x 5-1/2 tall. The depth from the back of the burner to the front of the bracket that holds the piping is 13. This stove is in ORIGINAL condition except I stripped the silver paint off the nickle pieces and I polished it up about as good as you can and all the other metal parts have all been re-painted with “High Heat” – 1200 degree Black paint. The original cast iron grate is missing about 25%of the back portion and there is about 25 of the original “fire balls” in various conditions (mostly complete – some missing chunks). Absolutely NO serious rust , The worst wear to the nickle plate is under the “Classic” name (the shell shaped portion just over the doors) and the top of the nickle kick plate under the doors. It is missing two pieces of mica in the doors and I already order NEW mica sheets and should have it after the holiday weekend and it will ALL be replaced by the time you pick it up. This was produced in the 1907 time frame and natural gas parlor stoves would have been leading edge technologies in the day still relevant for today’s modern usage.
