This is a real deal genuine vintage 1970’s Fender Wide Range humbucker with the rare and highly sought after threaded CuNiFe pole magnets. I’m unsure which specific year it is because the serial number has worn off. As you can probably see in the pictures, the mount on the original baseplate on one end broke off so I replaced it with a brand new one (and including the original as well). After I replaced the base I also applied new electrical tape to cover the bobbin ends and the installation of a new and nicer long braided push back lead wire which replaced the old braided PVC wire that was cut short. The original reflector plate and bobbin base plate screws are used as well. The reissue cover it currently has is lightly (naturally) worn but will work well in a relic or newer build. If you’d prefer I can include an even nicer condition cover instead, just ask. And since the original coil is un-potted, it has that more open sound many still prefer to the new CuNiFe version that came out last year. The vintage CuNiFe magnets also look nicer in my opinion. It has the ideal reading around 10.6k and inductance of 4.79h and can be used in either the neck or bridge position. Mounting springs and screws included! For those of you who are unfamiliar, this is the first time Fender has remade the original vintage spec Wide Range Humbucker with CuNiFe rod magnets since the last original Seth Lover designed models were made in the late 70s. As you probably know, the reissue models were not the same and basically PAFs under the hood. This new version was from the neck position (but could be used in the bridge too) and has a reading around 10.6k. Also included are the mounting screws and springs! Also note these were paired with 1meg audio pots just like in the vintage models. Here’s the mention of the CuNiFe magnets from the American Original 70s Telecaster Custom on Fender’s website. The Telecaster® Custom was discontinued in 1979 and real CuNiFe-magnet pickups disappeared with them. It measures 10.66 on the meter and is in excellent working condition. Sounded great when still on the guitar. The original wires were desoldered right against the pots and are full-length with no splices (8.5). The original chrome cover has scuffs and scratches – perfect for your relic project! This part was removed from a genuine American made Fender Telecaster Deluxe. The serial number was “519292”, the neck had a 1974 date code and the pots dated to 1973.
