Here is a nice, vintage, heavy little cast iron, puppy dog with original white paint w/ brown trim (left ear and toes), debossed on the back: RENOWN inside an oval. Very RARE souvenir piece from the Renown Stove Company (formerly Independent Stove Co). History of this company can be found at shiawasseehistory. Com/stove. From that source we find this: In October 1938, a week long celebration was held in honor of the… Company’s 30th anniversary. Factory tours were given, refreshments were served, and souvenir paperweights in the shape of dogs were distributed. Much harder to find than the cast iron Alligators and Elephants that this company also produced as paperweight souvenirs. Condition: Is very nice with tiny paint nips, as shown. Brown original paint is still nice and dark. Great for the collector of RENOWN STOVES or OWOSSO MICHIGAN MICH MI paper weight weights dog dogs.
Antique cast iron elephant paperweight advertising the Renown Underfeed Stove manufactured by the Independent Stove Company of Owosso, MI. In very good used condition, the elephant measures approximately 3 1/4″ long by 2″ tall by 1 1/8 wide. One side of the elephant reads: Independent Stove Co. The reverse reads: Renown Underfeed Stoves.
