Birmingham Stove & Range (BSR) cast iron Grill. There are no cracks, breaks, etc. Pretty clean, I sincerely doubt it was actually used, so no specific issues to mention. However, old / been around so could be scratches, casting flaws, other signs of wear, etc. Pictures were taken outside in natural light and are a big part of the description. I cleaned / seasoned the grates. The firebowl / main part of the unit has its original finish, and has developed some storage & age related flaws / corrosion through the years. These do not come up often. I’ve restored hundreds of pieces of cast iron cookware. All go through lye to remove any crud, organic material, seasoning, etc. Then I run them through the electrolysis process to remove any corrosion, rust, impurities, etc. They are scrubbed by hand using dish liquid, stainless steel scouring pads, stainless steel brushes, and magic erasers under cold water to bring them back to the bare metal finish. Finally, all pieces are run through three rounds of seasoning using vegetable shortening. Cast iron cookware will last hundreds of years and generations if properly taken care of. These are beautiful, heirloom quality pieces made right here in the USA. Will be bubble wrapped and surrounded by packing material to ensure that they don’t shift in transit. They are not making cookware like this anymore, and I would consider it tragic if anything were to happen to these in transit. They will be packed very well. The front plate says Sportsman Atlantic Stove Works, Atlantic, GA. Along the back with patient No’s 125.446-125.447. The item has been taken apart cleaned and reseasoned with Crisco. Item very solid with no cracks or marks. It has some surface rust like most old cast iron but does not have any serious flaking. This item has never been left out in the weather. There are no holes in the structure or frame from aging. This grill has been designed to use with charcoal or wood to produce heat for cooking. This grill has the following: Lid, Portable handle, Door for ventilation, Sliding Mini door, Fire Grate, Cooking Grate and Base. The size of this item is 18″ long, 9-3/8″ wide and 10-1/2″ high with the lid on, the cooking surface is 17″ long, 9″ wide and 8″ high. This item will last a lifetime if it is cleaned and reoiled after each use. This item is inventory number S2S2175.
