Fisher wood stoves were first created in Oregon by Bob Fisher in the mid-1970s. Fishers design utilized a new welding and sealing design which curtailed air leakage, which was a major problem for wood stoves on the market during that time. The first licensed Fisher wood stove was produced using the twenty-five steel shops in North America under the business name Fisher Stove International Organization. After he bought an A-Frame in the mountains, Bob discovered that heating with wood in the existing fireplace was very wasteful. Fisher wood stoves were a popular choice in the 1980s, since the oil prices skyrocketed and a lot of households turned to wood-burning alternatives. The most distinctive design element of a Fisher wood stove are the doors, because each units set was personally manufactured by Bob Fisher, while the stoves body was constructed by one of the twenty-five steel manufacturing companies. Real Fisher wood stoves have the name Fisher engraved on the front doors, and are made of heavy steel which was finished in brass, nickel or cast-iron. Bob Fisher designed the Fisher Stove in the late 1970s at Springfield, Oregon. And during the following years, Fisher Stoves became popular. Its very important to underline that the Fisher Stove pioneered safety standards at Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Canadian Standard Association (CSA). The stoves, which were manufactured by Fisher prior to the 1980s, were installed using the building codes. They were required to be kept 36 inches away from combustible walls. One simple fact made Fisher much better than the competition. Bob Fisher discovered that the wide fireplaces that were so popular were quite wasteful. This happened because heating wood in these fireplaces didnt heat the room very efficiently. And to fix this, Fisher sealed up part of the fireplace and welded the iron in such a way that it left only a small six-inch opening for the chimney. As the result, this fireplace was able to heat an entire A-frame home. Came with our house and was installed in 1999. We rarely used it in over 5 years living here. In fantastic shape with slight surface rust from a plant pot. You have to carry it down 4 steps on the front porch, otherwise it is a fairly easy and level removal process. Winter is right around the corner. If you’re tired of freezing because of an inadequate heat system, go old school with very probably the best wood stove ever made, a Fisher. This stove requires no electricity to work. That means when you get hit with an ice storm and your power is off for days on end, you can still heat water for a bath, cook your meals, and needless to say, heat your home. Anywhere there was rust on this stove, I took down to bare metal. It has 3 coats of Thermolux Satin Black High Heat paint on it, and all of the trim work has four coats of Thermolux Metallic Gold High Heat paint to make this stove the most attractive part of any room. I vacuumed out the interior, and installed all new firebrick. This stove will last a lifetime. Give it to your grandkids when you are done with it. These things throw heat like no other stove. I currently use a Grandma Bear as my sole heat source in my 1,750 square foot home, and even on the coldest days, I never come anywhere close to firing it as hot as it can handle. It would roast us out. This stove looks better in person than it does in pictures. It has an 8 flue size out of the rear, which gives you a full top surface for cooking. It weighs approximately 406 lbs and takes up to 20 logs. The door opening is 22″ wide x 11″ high. I can load the stove for you in an appropriate vehicle. Make me a reasonable offer, the worst I can say to you is no. Thanks for your interest. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch. It has not been restored. It is in original condition and has a few scratches and missing paint as would be expected for its age.
