US Military Issue M-1942 Single Burner Field Stove WW II 1945. It is used but in good shape. Stove is marked US, M-1942 MOD, PW 1 45. The stove is complete, with wrench/tool, and the instruction sticker is present. Sticker does show some wear/rub marks. The stove does come with the aluminum housing/container, which does have signs on use (scratches, dents). The container is marked U. The stove fits nicely in the container and the container closes easily and latches (twist latch) tightly. Stove has not been tested, but all pieces are present and knobs turn easily, etc. Leading me to believe that it will function properly. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and we will do our best to answer them. Will be packaged well. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE LAST PAIR! First designed in 2007 as an optional Lowther replacement that upgrades to a field coil format. Ideal for horn loading above 80hz and can be used in a front loading cabinet with rear horn and or transmission line. Usable response of 50 to 20k depending on loading. The cone and extender cone use a proprietary pulp that is composed of various length fiber from banana, coconut, and pineapple fibers. The fibers of the pulp are spun to allow the best distribution within the cone and provide stiffness where most needed and minimize resonant peaks. This overcomes most of the problems of full range speakers which need low mass for good transients, yet maintain stiffness for extended response and low distortion. A special small center cone mechanically couples direct to the voice coil at 6k and extends response to beyond 20k to give lifelike highs. To reduce mass and allow greater high frequency distribution, a center deflector is used instead of the traditional dust cap. Made of aluminum, it also acts as a heat wick to reduce the operating temperature of both the voice and field coil. It also allows a wider distribution of sound above 10k. The development of the 8 inch speaker took several years as a new approach was desired to upgrade and improve what has been an audio staple for many years. Going back to a field coil allows the speaker to have the equivalent of a much larger permanent magnet. The advantages of large magnets in giving high flux in the gap are well known. A special copper shunt ring is also used to lower distortion and smooth impedance. A major issue that is addressed is the matching of the speaker to the amp. To minimize instability, a very smooth impedance curve has been obtained in the 50 to 20k bandwidth that varies between 6 and 22 ohms. The resonant peak is at 100 hz and the impedance slowly rises with frequency to around 24 ohms at 20k. It also minimizes the effect of the interconnect speaker cables. The use of Zobel filters should not be needed and is not recommended. This speaker is not recommended for high level listening applications such as large home theater rooms or to play rock music at concert levels. Ultra low mass is achieved giving outstanding transients and a unique musical quality that has to be heard to be appreciated. This listing is for a closely matched pair of prototype T-7 8FR. They are in good working condition with a minimum of scratches and abrasions. Developed and built by speaker designer and consultant Sam Saye. His other recent projects include the upgrade of Dr Bruce Edgar’s Titan horn system to field coil in 2005, upgrades to the Classic Audio Loudspeaker lineup to include all field coils in 2006, development assistance of the the BE 4016 beryllium diaphragm for Materion 2007-11, and most recently development of the prototype all horn field coil system for ESD Acoustics. Frequency response; 100-16k plus minus 3db. 65-20k plus minus 6db. Impedance; 16 ohm nominal. Voice coil; one inch copper on nomex former. Recommended enclosure; Open baffle of one square meter or larger, front and rear loading to 80 to 100hz horns. Transmission line can be added to extend low frequency to below 40hz. Small infinite or ported enclosure application will reduce the openness and musicality of the speaker. Offered is a Prentiss-Wabers model M1942 field stove, made for the Mountaineers in WWII. Stove and case are both dated 1945. This stove was completely disassembled, cleaned and polished, and reassembled. Pump tube gasket and NRV pip have been replaced, pump leather oiled, generators sprayed, fount flushed… The decal is an after-market replacement. I tested the stove after reassembly and it burns perfectly. Outside of one small dimple dent (see 6th photo), everything is very clean and straight. This would make an excellent addition to any GPA or military collection. IMPORTANTPLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. Please leave feedbackit lets me know your item arrived and that youre satisfied with it. This is is an original World War II Outift, Cooking, Large Stove by Perfection Stove Corp Dated 1944. You get whats seen in the photos. Utensils and ladles for sale in other auctions. B elow is the historical review of the unit. M-1937 FIELD RANGE (12 K). A WW II vintage M-1937 Field Range. Photo reprinted courtesy the Seabee Cook Web Site. The M-1937 served as the Armys primary field stove from the beginning of World War II until the end of the Vietnam War. Each range was equipped with a gasoline-powered fire unit (or “burner”), 10- and 15-gallon stockpots, a heavy aluminum roasting and baking pan (one deep, one shallow), a cradle, and a set of knives and utensils. The following description comes to us via Lawrence P. Belmont of the 225th, who used to use them in the ETO. The M-1937 Field Gas Range could cook and bake anything. They were about three feet tall and about 15 inches wide; they had compartments with rails where you could put the burner if you wanted to grill items. It had a square roasting pan with a cover you would use the cover for a grill and put the gas range right below it. If you were cooking potatoes or making coffee, it had 10- and 15-gallon stock pots and you would put the gas burner on the bottom. Before this very versatile and portable stove, the Army had wooden and coal stoves that they used to use on troop trains. The M-1937 was so easy to move and set up. It had handles on each side and two guys could move them easily since they didn’t weigh much when they didn’t have the pots in them. You could put them any place: in the back of trucks or in searchlight trailers. In Normandy I had mine in a wooden lean-to shed that my buddy Sgt. Kravarik help me make. I had two stoves set up there and used to make hotcakes every morning. I can still smell them! The biggest problem was that after cleaning them you were very dirty because the gas would clog up the pipes on them. The other thing was that they were prone to blowing up! They had a round disc on the top of the burner and you had to use graphite to seal it, so you’d get really dirty cleaning them. But the guy that invented it was sure a smart person. In the German Army, the cooks had a 30-gallon tub and they made a fire in the bottom. THIS IS A GREAT FIND. If you do cooking during living history encampments. Otherwise its local pic up only. I have identified and described the item to the best of my ability.
