This is a high performance computer chip for the Lucas 14 CUX engine management system as shown in the first photo. This system was used from 1989 to 1995 Range Rover Classic, Discovery I, Defender and Morgan+8 cars is the USA. The 14CUX system has also been installed on countless other Rover V8 power vehicles. The Rover V8 is easy to modify because it is essentially an American push rod V8. But the Rover V8 was designed to be physically smaller and as light weight of a V8 as possible. This computer chip is designed to cause the engine to run better under all circumstances. Whereas the original chip supplied in the 14CUX computers is designed to maintain exhaust emissions within a strict arbitrary standard. This involves sending unburnt fuel to the catalyst to maintain the high temperature required to meet the standards. With this chip your engine will run better from the moment you turn the key until you turn it off. This chip is oriented around a sensibly modified 4.6L engine. However it will run any size Rover V8 engine better. Doesn’t matter that much if 3.5L to 5.0L. That is one of the advantages of the Lucas 14CUX engine management systems is the it is very adaptive to different applications. Most enthusiasts opt for a modified 4.6L when hot rodding their Rover powered vehicle. So this chip is ideal in that case. But do not worry that your engine is different size or not modified, or extremely modified, etc. Your vehicle may have a tune resistor. I do not know if your vehicle has a tune resistor or not. You should look for it, and test for it by probing the fuel injection wiring harness. In the 5th picture you can see the tune resistor is on a blue two pin connector. In the 6th photo you can see that the tune resistor connector(if your harness has one) is right beside the FI relays. If your wiring harness has a 3900ohm resistor, then you must change it to a 500ohms in order to switch on this fuel map. The effort required to find and maybe change a resistor is no consequence compared to the benefit of this chip. You can see an example of changing the resistor in the 5th photo. Nothing to worry about. We use only military grade EEPROM chips. The chip pins are inspected and preformed to fit the socket on the ECU circuit board to ease installation. If you feel uncomfortable about installing the chip in your computer then I will be happy to install it for you no extra charge. If you are worried about the chip installation or the tune resistor, then you should be able to find a technically oriented friend to help you. In a matter of minutes the installation can be done. This dash may is made for the following Land Rovers. This cover is made of high quality leather look vinyl. Cover will install in 30-45 minutes with minimal tools or mechanical know how. You will need to have an upholstery shop. Install it if you are not a diyer. This cover will need to be glued on and tucked behind the dash vents, gauge cluster, a pillars and GPS screen if equipped. There are a total of 4 screws to remove on cars without navigation and 8 screws on cars with GPS. This is not a hard molded piece of cheap abs plastic, this project took some time to develop to insure a OEM fit and finish. We give this product a 8 out of 10 in difficulty. Remove center dash console. Remove both driver and passenger dash bezels. One houses the light switches (unplug switch) and the other cup holder. All three will pop off, just pull from the bottom and pull down a bit. Remove the center speaker cover also will pop off. Remove both A pillar covers. Torx Screws are behind the srs cap. If you have a navigation screen make sure to remove the 4 Phillips head bolts attaching it to the dash. There is no reason to unplug and remove but it will make things easier. Pop off the top clam shell from steering wheel column. Pull down the lower knee cover and pull off. You will see two small torx screws attaching the column accordion slide. Pull off and lower steering wheel all the way down. Remove huge cluster by removing the two torx screws and unplug. Pop off the two side defrost vents on either side of the dash. Make sure to use acetone (nail polish remover) thinner or mi neral spirits to clean the dash from any contaminates. Now you can lay the dash cover on and center it using the gauge cluster hump. Once its centered you can start the adhesion process. We like to use a standard super glue liquid (not the gel) add a small amount of glue to the underside of the cover that goes around the cluster hump. Once thats set you can use as much or as little glue as you like around the back side by the windshield and around the front side. We leave enough material in the front so it can be trimmed and glued behind the vents and center gps area. The sides as well. We like to slice the dash panel along the sides to slow the trimmed cover to be tucked in. As well and right above the glove box shelf area.
