I’ve finally decided to sell my vintage/antique/history filled Coleman 523 Gasoline Stove. This model has also been identified as TM8-615. This stove was issued to the United States Army Medical Department in WWII, as it has the Caduceus (Snake wrapped around a staff) symbol front and center on the case. Everything is original and has never been refurbished or refinished. This unit is in original OEM condition, as it was when new. The stove and all parts function as new. The stove, all associated components and case are in an extremely rare, excellent condition. There’s no rust whatsoever, the paint and finishes are as they were when new in the 1940’s. The original blue patina still exists in near new condition on the windscreen shields and around each burner head. The green finish on the tank is in perfect, new condition. Still glossy with zero scratches or imperfections. The tank holds pressure and fuel perfectly. The black finish on the stove top is in near perfect shape, there’s one small, dime sized area where paint is missing bare metal, but no rust, and where any pots/pans would sit is slightly worn, again no rust, just clean bare metal. The plunger used to pressurize the tank is in flawless condition along with the open/close valves and piping from the tank to the burner. It’s all in immaculate shape. All components exist as when new, including the small wrench attached to the inner burner frame. I don’t think it’s ever been removed. The case is in great shape, no oxidation or rust. Small scuffs, but for 74 years old, it’s in great shape! The latches and top carrying handle are functioning as new. Also included it it’s original Spare Parts Kit. Notation on the spare parts kit bag is as follows: SPARE PARTS KIT NO. 9R10285, FOR COLEMAN NO. Included in the spare parts kit are the following parts, quantity and text as noted/indicated on each individual package. [All parts noted below are new old stock (NOS)]. (1)EA – “523-140 FILLER PLUG”. (1)EA – “118B620 VALVE STEM PACKING”. (2)EA – “520-251 CLEANER ROD & NEEDLE X 2″ (Two Total, not 2×2). (2)EA – “523-259 FILLER SCREEN X 2″ (Two Total, not 2×2). (1)EA – “520-950 WRENCH”. (1)EA – “216-500 PUMP LEATHER” (This would be the seal for the plunger, I believe). (2)EA – “104-136 FILLER PLUG GASKET X 2″ (Two Total, not 2×2). (4)EA – “520-299 VAPORIZER” (Four separate and individually packaged). These parts are so rare and sought after, it’s definitely unique and rare to have these, let alone have it with the original stove, in the original parts kit package. This is a great unit for an individual that enjoys US WWII history, camping or outdoor enthusiast, a Coleman junkie, or just somebody who loves gear that has and will stand up to the tests of time. Or this would be great for the antique and vintage enthusiast or anyone who loves camping or hiking outdoors. Like I said before, this thing is rare and in such an excellent shape. It was manufactured in est. 1944/1945, it’s 74 or 75 years old. My hope is that it’s new owner appreciates WW2 history and cares for it as I have and it’s previous owner(s) have. Please message me with any questions you may have, I would be more than happy field and respond to all requests. WWII USMC Army Mountain Ski Stove stamped. Complete with Wrench/Tool, as well as the ORIGINAL Decal with Instructions, ALL Mint!! It APPEARS to be as close to New Old Stock, apart from having been test-lit, perhaps, when issued. There were three contracts for this Stove: one with Prentis-Waber, one with Coleman Appliance, as well as this 1945 contract with ALADDIN. The Stove comes with a Wrench and a Spare Part Receptacle, both of which clip ingeniously to the vertical pot supports. The stove weighs 674 grams with the tool, no fuel, and no spare parts. The pot supports and tank are of stainless steel. Bestor Robinson, the inventor of the stove, was an U. Citizen, a rock climber, and a skier. He was also Club Vice President of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club. He advised the U. Army with mountain training, climbing, and skiing. Many members of the Sierra Club joined what would be the 10th Mountain Division ski troops. Robinson filed six separate patents for this Stove! Designed for the Mountain Troops operating in fuel-scarce terrain above tree line (as well as inside a well-ventilated Mountain Tent, with the Canvas Duck Patch on the floor for its use), these were widely sought after, prized, and used by ALL branches in all theaters, including Armored personnel as well as troops in the Pacific. This is the more compact, lighter weight M1942 that could nestle inside the separate issue 3-piece Cook Set consisting of two Pots and a Lid/Pan, or the tall cylindrical 2-piece Canister which also served as cookware! Both the Cook Set and the Canister Carrier/ Cook Setwere manufactured separately by Massillon Aluminum, C. Manufacturing, and Rutenberg Electric NOT the same manufacturers of the Stoves Prentis-Waber, Aladdin, or Coleman Appliance! Perfect for the foxhole chef. When you gotta have coffee, you gotta have coffee! ZERO dents, scratches on THIS Stove! Folding Legs, Pan/Pot Support Arms work perfectly. Fuel Cap, Pressure Pump functions, generating pressure! Both Knobs, Bakelite and Wood, are present and operate smoothly! This piece comes with the accompanying multi-purpose Adjusting Wrench which is invariably missing. What IS missing (as is also often the case) is the tiny Rectangular Spare Part Housing which can found online. The stove is marked, U. This Stove has an intact Instruction Label, the Sunflower Yellow water-decal with the Gold border which was extremely perishable, rarely surviving exposure to heat and spilled fuel for any length of time! The 2-Piece aluminum Carrier which also functions as two Cooking Pots is marked U. / 1945 and is in EXCELLENT PLUS shape with only three exceedingly small dings 1 on the top edge, and 2 on the bottom edge. This GLEAMING assembly is a SUPERB example! The item “WW2 STOVE USMC Army Mountain Ski M1942 Aladdin 1945 WRENCH & CANISTER Mint” is in sale since Saturday, February 23, 2019. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Militaria\WW II (1939-45)\Original Period Items\United States\Field Gear, Equipment”. The seller is “bataan12213″ and is located in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lot of 5 (FIVE) vintage stainless Coleman M530 WW2 era Squad type Camp Stoves. Contract stoves used throughout the war, with this particular civilian model pressed into service until they were militarized with a coat of olive drab paint and officially adopted In 1944 by the US Army. The fifth is an unserviceable “hangar queen” strictly for display, spare pats, cannibalization or restoration.
