Each of these barges had a barge captain and a small cabin equipped with a coal stove for heat and cooking. That’s where our shipmate stove came from my father-in law scraped the boats but kept the port holes and stoves. Around 1970 me and my wife were building a cabin upstate NY. We took one of the stoves up for cooking and heat my wife even learned to use the oven our original slow cooker. This is a old wood or coal burning stove i do not know how old it is and it looks like it is functinal i beleive that all the parts are there. ANTIQUE 1865 HERCULES NO. 14 POT BELLY STOVE. MADE IN McDOWELL, PENNSYLVANIA. THIS ANTIQUE HAS HAD IT’S FLUE REMOVED TO SELL AND MAKE IT EASIER TO TRANSPORT. THIS IS ONE OF THE EARLIEST POT BELLY STOVES I HAVE SEEN AND ESPECIALLY IN SUCH AMAZINGLY GOOD WORKING CONDITION.
