Antique cast iron stove shipmate 135

We have owned this stove for over 50 years my wife’s father was in the Marine salvage business. After WWII he cut up Liberty ships for scrap on Shooters Island, between New Jersey and Staten Island just south of the Bayonne bridge. In 1962 he had half dozen Tracey coal boats (steel barges) these transported coal from the coal railroad car dumpers in New Jersey, to factories and power plants around New Jersey, New York harbor, and upstate. Each of these barges had a barge captain and a small cabin equipped with a coal stove for heat and cooking. That’s where our shipmate stove came from my father-in law scraped the boats but kept the port holes and stoves. Around 1970 me and my wife were building a cabin upstate NY. We took one of the stoves up for cooking and heat my wife even learned to use the oven our original slow cooker. The size of the stove is 34″wide x 26″ It was cast with markings above the oven door Marine Manufacturing & Supply Company New Brunswick, NJ. I will respond to any questions you may have. Unused, never burned vintage The Shipmate Stove Co. Model Number 214 traditional wood or coal boat cook stove with oven. Intended for boats between 30′ and 65′. Solid cast iron construction. Steel rail with cast iron ends sea rail standard. Approximate heat output of 24,000-36,000 btu’s depending on fuel type and air intake/damper settings. Comes with lid lifter, shaker, pot holder rail. Measures 22″w x 15.5″ depth, 20 5/8h. 4 flue pipe required. Stove has been repainted due to sitting for so long and not used. Repainted with high temperature stove black paint. This cast iron parlor stove is 24″ wide from leg to leg and 15″ deep with a height of 25 1/2. There is a trivit cover on the top between the two finials. This stove is ornamental due to a split in the back panel that would need brazed to be usable again. The patent date of 1865 is on the front of the stove. The stove is nicknamed Rose and has Wood, Bishop & Co. Bangor Maine Across the top of the front.
